Loving the great weather

Ok so we haven't been out on the bikes this past week but it has still been exceptional.  doing nothing once in a while is great too.

Well it's not been nothing...I took a 12+ hour  on line course over this weekend and last weekend..health and safety stuff..boring for the most part but necessary.

A bit of house, property and shop clean-up ....and a bit of reading and relaxing on the back deck.

Mike took the KLR over to A friend's to get some work done on it..and my bike goes to the dealer this week to get some work done on it before the big trip north to south....Out 'Half Way Down' tour.  We are getting our maps, GPS and SPOT tracker all ready.  The spot tracker is a beacon that we can use for 911 emergency calls or it can have 3 other notices added so everyone known were safe.  It also has a GPS tracking feature that we will link this site to that will track our every move in real time....that way people will be able to see our progress on an hourly basis...

Our biggest issue right now is that we have more days off then we know what to do with...we figure it will take 11 days to ride from Calgary to New Mexico so that gives us about 4 days to spend some extra time in a few places....we were thinking of Colorado for a few days.  More web research is required.

The trip is the last two weeks of August so stay tuned form more posts....!

July 1st - the one month anniversary of loosing Jeff

Well I can't say it is any easier today then it was one month ago, but it is different.  One month ago there was a lot of planning and coping happening.  Today there is a void, a realization that Jeff is gone.

My mom and dad and I cleaned out the apartment last weekend...taking what we could, donating almost everything to Jeff's friends, local charities and the staff at Tobias House.  The cleaning and donating items from the apartment was the last big closure issue for us as a family...well that will actually be seeing the name plate at the burial site which will happen in a few weeks.

Life is getting back to normal...we're all back home and back to our daily lives.  I finally got my head into work again, and am riding again....that really helps.

Mike and I ride the continental divide in mid August so there is some planning we need to start doing, bikes to prepare and camping gear to dig up....which we will probably do today...
